From the steep ridges of the Montana backcountry to the remote whitetail spots I hunt back East, my truck is my mobile base camp. It has to be reliable, organized, and ready for anything.
One of the biggest game changers for me has been having a secure, well-organized truck bed. I run a DiamondBack HD cover, which keeps my gear protected from weather and prying eyes while giving me quick access. With over 40,000 miles on my 2023 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport SR5, this setup has proven itself everywhere I’ve taken it.
How I Keep The Bed Organized
Underneath the front panel of the HD is my Cross Bin 8, where I keep:
-
Tool bag with wrenches, gauges, and flashlights
-
Recovery gear like tow straps, a Hi-Lift Jack, and a foldable shovel
-
Cutting tools — Greenworks electric chainsaw, tree saw, and axe
-
Tie-down straps — DiamondBack Ratchet Tie-Downs for securing larger loads
-
Other essentials like chain oil, a drop hitch, etc.
Having everything in its place means I can go from a hunting trip to a hardware store run without re-packing. I use the rest of my bed to keep my hunting equipment secure and out of the weather.
The New Stronghold™ Cargo Net
The latest addition to my kit is Diamondback’s new StrongHold™ Cargo Net, which has been great for keeping gear secure on top of the cover. On long trips with hunting partners, I’ll use it to hold waterproof duffel bags, archery targets, coolers, totes, or anything else that I don’t need to have out of the weather in place. It clips on in seconds, and when I get to camp or home, everything’s right where I left it.
Why It Works For Me
This setup gives me the peace of mind of secure storage and the efficiency of a system where everything has its spot. Whether I’m chasing elk in the mountains or grabbing gear for scouting, I know where everything is and that it’ll be there when I need it.
